Itinerary: 3 Days on Phú Quốc Island

DAY 1

+ Late Afternoon: Arrive & Settle In +

First things first. Arrive at your hotel/resort, have a drink by the pool, and take in the Phú Quốc sea views.

+ Dinner: Phú Quốc Seafood +

Enjoy some fresh Phú Quốc seafood at your hotel's restaurant. If your hotel does not have an appetizing restaurant on the premises, take a taxi to Mango Bay or The Shells, and enjoy affordable sea-front dining at either of these resorts. Vietnomnomnom recommends the grilled seafood platter at The Shells (see right).

DAY 2

+ Morning: Pepper Plantation & Fish Sauce Factory +

Take a taxi to Dương Đông and visit one of the three pepper plantations, and one of the three fish sauce factories (Khai Hoan, Hung Thinh, or Red Boat). Do a self-guided tour, and be sure to buy some pepper and fish sauce as souvenirs.

+ Late Morning: Coi Nguon Museum +

Make a quick stop at Coi Nguon Museum for a glimpse of Phú Quốc's history. The museum is small, but has a nice overview of island history, a selection of souvenirs, and a nice view of Long Beach.

+ Lunch: Biên Hải Quán+

From the museum, take a taxi to Biên Hải Quán restaurant for a local seaside seafood experience. Order a coconut (bigger than the size of your head) and choose your favorite seafood dishes, cooked to your liking. Vietnomnomnom recommends sauteed shrimp, fried cá, and steamed clams. Take a quick power nap in one of the hammocks, or go for a digestive stroll along the beach.

+ Afternoon: Snorkeling at Gành Dầu & Cửa Cạn Village Visit +

Continue your journey up the coast of Phú Quốc to Gành Dầu beach. Here you can swim, snorkel, or tour the cape. You can also find a number of seaside cafes for an afternoon snack or drink. Stop by Cửa Cạn Village on the way back to your hotel for a scenic Vietnam vista, and a glimpse of Phú Quốc Village life.

+ Late Afternoon: Sunset +

Experience the Phú Quốc sunset in Dương Đông at Emoi Cafe or at Dinh Cậu Beach/the Dinh Cậu Temple.

+ Evening: Dương Đông Night Market +

Take a taxi or a stroll to Dương Đông Night Market. Pick out your seafood of choice (see below), and have the market vendors cook it for you. Do some shopping, taste Thốt Nốt juice (see fruit at right), and enjoy late night drinks and activity in the town.

DAY 3

+ Morning: Suối Tranh (Waterfall) & Sao Beach +

Take a taxi to Sao Beach. On the way, stop at Suối Tranh (Tranh Waterfall) for a walk through the forest and a view of the beautiful Suối Tranh Waterfall.

+ Lunch: Sao Beach +

Enjoy a leisurely morning and lunch on Sao Beach. Rent kayaks or jet skis, have one more seafood meal, and relax with a coconut in hand on one of the most beautiful, white sandy beaches in Vietnam.

+ Afternoon: Depart +

Time to pack up and head for the airport. If you have time before your flight, visit the Coconut Tree Prison or one of the many pearl farms.
